My cat White Kitty died today at 4:13pm. I took her to be put to sleep in Vancouver, where she was born and raised. She was gone quickly; it only took about 3 seconds before her head became heavy and she relaxed in my arms. I'm glad knowing that the last thing she knew was that I was right there with her till the end, holding her. She'll be cremated, and I'll be able to take her ashes where ever I may go. I'll also be getting an imprint of her paw, and I took a few clippings of her hair so that I can get a locket to carry a little bit of her everywhere I go. She'll always be with me, no matter what.

She's done a lot in her life, including two long road trips to Vegas and back, and also got to go to Germany and back. I got to enjoy her sweet, loving personality for 15 great years, and I'm comforted that she got to pass with dignity, and without any pain. She'll never have to take any more pills or get any more shots, never have to be thirsty, and never have to be hungry. She was ready to go, and just needed a bit of help getting there. Now she's free. She's free to run and play again, and catch as many mice as she wants, just like she used to do in Vancouver.

I feel better knowing that she never had to suffer excruciating pain, but it still hurts. I feel raw on the inside, and never in my life have I ever suffered such soul stripping, heart crushing, agonizing sobs as I did as I held and pet her still body. And now I just feel very empty. A large part of me is gone now; only a gaping, raw hole left in my heart. A wound that will never heal, no matter how much time passes.

She was never just a cat or just a pet. We grew up together, her and I. She was my only true friend. She was my baby. She was my soul-mate. She was my other half. She brought so many good memories and joys to my life, and I will never forget one single moment spent with her.
